Daniel Chavez
General Counsel
Daniel joined Emergent™ Technology as General Counsel in July 2017. Prior to joining the company, Daniel served as Assistant General Counsel for First Solar, Inc, where he worked on finance, project development, and construction matters in Latin America and the United States.
Prior to First Solar, Daniel was a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery LLP, where he focused his practice on cross-border private equity investments, energy, natural resources and infrastructure transactions. He previously served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Zaff Capital LP, a private equity firm, where he was an SEC-registered investment advisor, specializing in emerging market investing, with a focus on Latin America, the Middle East and Africa.
He also has served as senior counsel for AEI, an international energy company which developed, constructed, owned and operated energy infrastructure assets in Latin America, Eastern Europe and Asia. While at AEI, Daniel focused on mergers, acquisitions and corporate finance matters.
Early in his career, Daniel worked as an associate with the law firm Chadbourne & Parke in New York and as legal adviser for Latin America and the Caribbean for Allied Domecq (now Pernod Ricard).
Daniel earned his master of law degree from Harvard Law School, a master of business administration from Cornell University and he earned his bachelor of laws from Universidad Panamericana in Mexico.
